At Ray of Sunshine Senior Care, we often meet veterans and their families who have no idea that they may qualify for free home care through the VA. However, like many things involving government programs, these benefits aren’t exactly easy to discover or understand.
In our latest Home Care Insights video, Cynthia Ferris walks you through two VA programs that can make a life-changing difference for veterans or their spouses:
• Aid and Attendance Pension
• VA Community Care Network (CCN)
Both programs offer support for in-home or facility-based care, but they work very differently. Aid and Attendance takes longer to process and is available to spouses and surviving spouses as well as veterans. The Community Care Network is just for veterans, but approval is typically faster.
These programs aren’t talked about nearly enough and navigating them alone can be overwhelming. That’s where we come in. Ray of Sunshine is proud to be a VA CCN provider and we help families cut through the red tape every day.

Veterans served our country; let’s make sure they get the care they deserve.
At the same time, she and her husband were faced with the care of his father on the west coast which presented the unique challenges of long-distance care. These events led to a crash course in the senior care industry and her unending dedication to helping seniors and families in similar circumstances. When not working Cynthia enjoys cooking, gardening and traveling with a focus on visiting State and National Parks.
